So, I finally got around to seeing Rob Zombie's latest movie, "The Devil's Rejects" last night. Went to Best Buy as I was bored because of the aforementioned wife on vacation thing. And, so I decided that it was time to expand my DVD collection. Now, I usually buy music DVDs with my assorted favorite bands. You need a Rush DVD, I got it. Need somthing obscure by Mike Portnoy, I got it. Anyway, I decided to see what was out there that would catch my eye, and not make me want to rip the DVD in half after five minutes of watching it (House of Wax remake, made me want to do just that). I was excited to purchase that, and another great movie, "Blade" which is really good. Let me tell ya, Zombie knows how to make a real good movie. Yes, it is violent, Yes, it has awful disturbing scenes. But, it was everything Zombie did not, or could not do with "House of 1000 Corpses." The cinematography, the lighting, the editing, and even the damn music was just right for this movie being that they are wonderful songs from the 70's. The ending song as the credits are rolling has got to be one of my favs I have heard in a long time, called "Seed of Memory." Otis is really creepy this time around. Spaulding is great and Baby is too much of everything. The story picks up after "Corpses," but has previously mentioned characters on the run from the sheriff, whose brother was killed by these maniacs. Revenge is the motive. The version I bought comes with a bonus DVD of the making of the movie. I have yet to watch the bonus disc, but will do that today sometime. On a lighter note, I also happened to catch the series kick off of "Blade" Wednesday night on Spike. It is really good. Yes, it borrows from the movie a bit with characters, but it takes on this whole new story line which I like a lot. The action, the gore at times, and the actors they have playing the lead roles are all intense. Great show...one of the best of the year by far, hands down. Now, if only we could all learn to be that cool and still fight off the vampires around us...we all know of at least one in our lives who has tried to puncture our necks with their "mouths." You know who you are! More later...

I am writing as I go. Yes, today my love and child are gone to the lake without me once again. Days like today, make me miss them all the more. It's funny how when people are there in front of you, you see them. When they are gone, you do not. Hmmm. Funny that way. But, I do see them even though they are now in a car speeding to some lake named after a pelican (weird Minnesotans). I see them in my head, in my random stops for coffee when that happens, or in the letters of words I write. I know they are alright, and I should not fret. So, I will not. So, here I am on this blog thingy. It's cool. I ran into a blog today I had no idea existed. Now, I have this friend who lives in Reno, and he has assorted other blogs listed on his as "friends." Well, I was intrigued by one address so I clicked it. It took me to a blog that I was happy to read - a woman who I once loved. I don't want to embarass her or make her think I am a freak, but I was happy to see her blog and see the pics of her family. I am happy she is happy. Sounds like her life is about to change once again, as all of ours is I guess. That's what happens as we age. Sucks, but that's the point. I don't necessarily like aging, but you know what the best part about it is? The random evils of adolesence are behind me, the stuck in nowhere mode of post-college life is gone, and my career is, well, is. And, I get to share my life my love and my child. And the cat who thinks he owns the house, but until he makes payments and uses the toilet, I don't think so. More later...
